Project summary:

The EUBUSINESS project investigates the impact of Next Generation EU (NGEU) funds on economic actors’ support for the EU. Specifically, the project inquires whether workers and employers located in firms that received NGEU funds manifest stronger pro-EU attitudes than those who operate in firms that have not enjoyed EU funding. The study is based on surveys and survey experiments in small and medium-sized enterprises located in Spain, Italy and Germany and analyses how country, firm and individual level variables interact in shaping economic actors’ support for European integration.

Job Description

The selected applicant will join the research team led by Irina Ciornei (UAB) and Manuel Hidalgo-Perez (UPO Seville). The team closely collaborates with Alessandro Pellegata (University of Milan) and Zsofia Ignacz (University of Frankfurt). The PhD student is expected to write a thesis in the project framework, to participate at academic conferences and to assist the coordinating team with research-related tasks. Salary range year 1 – year 4: 18,840€ – 24,340. Additional research and mobility funds available (7,000€ in total).

Profile

• Master’s degree in political science, sociology, international relations, economics, European studies or a related field
• Excellent command of quantitative techniques
• Advanced level of English
• Knowledge of Spanish, German, or Italian is an advantage

• A copy of the personal academic transcript of the completed university studies (bachelor’s, licentiate, master’s) showing the grades obtained in the corresponding exam periods, in the form of fail (S), pass (A), good (N), excellent (E), and honours (MH), along with the corresponding numerical grades, the credits completed, and the date of obtaining the grades, as well as the corresponding sworn translation, if applicable
• In the case of studies completed abroad: a declaration of equivalence of the average grade of the bachelor’s and master’s studies is mandatory, through the form provided by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.  Only homologated titles are accepted.
• A curriculum vitae (CV) according to the CVA (AEI) model, where the merits claimed by the candidate are listed. Add the name and details of two referees at the end. Only the CVA model is accepted.
• Supporting documents for the merits mentioned in the CV.
• Proof of the degree of disability, if applicable.
