Job Description
Join us in the fight against cancer and help us take clinical AI to the next level. If you are interested in AI, uncertainty quantification and interpretability, this is your chance. You will be part of a team with partners from hospitals and industry that will create a decision support tool for dermatologists.
The research on uncertainty quantification and interpretability is crucial for clinical AI and will have applications far beyond this project.
Responsibilities and qualifications
Your important tasks in the project will be quantifying the uncertainty in an AI model for skin lesion diagnostics, and making it interpretable. This will happen in collaboration with the company Melatech, from which we have a very large anonymized database of skin lesions with diagnosis. Based on the actual performance of doctors we will also investigate their skill and bias and the difficulty of specific lesions.

You must have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.
Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU’s rules for the PhD education .

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 3 years. Starting date is 1 May 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
