The Philanthropy Assistant is integral to the Development
Department, which raises critical funds so JSSA can carry out its
mission. This position works collaboratively with all Major and
Planned Gifts team members, providing assistance on a range of
administrative, fundraising, and development functions. This is a

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the team by helping to manage the scheduling of donors,
leadership committees, and other outside meetings. - Work closely with Chief Development Officer and the Director of
Major & Planned Gifts to prepare accurate and engaging
follow-up and donor communications. - Administer data regarding donor relationships and record
hygiene in Virtuous CRM. - Research and create standard donor profiles of qualified
prospective individual, foundation, and corporate donors using
various tools, including DonorSearch. - Work with the Development Stewardship Manager on external
events and meetings, including logistics and day-to-day
support. - Provide support to the Scholarship Program, including
communications with student awardees and working with the volunteer
committee. - Serve as the first point of contact for all external and
internal fundraising inquiries via phone and email. - Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and
programs to potential donors. - Process and track department expenses.
- Provide Development department administrative support; interact
with staff throughout the department and organization and perform
other administrative duties as needed. - Keep up to date with fundraising initiatives and news from
across the organization. - Coordinate special projects, such as car donations, and other
duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of nonprofit development support or
similar experience required. - Competent writing skills with the ability to adapt to and write
for other voices required. - Experience with grant or fundraising/development writing is
strongly preferred. - High proficiency in a Microsoft Office suite of products is
required, specifically Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with data
management systems is strongly preferred. - Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to
manage and prioritize multiple tasks and priorities. Self-motivated
team player who can also work independently in a deadline-driven
environment. - Commitment to equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and social
justice issues. - Detail-oriented with a commitment to accountability and
execution. - Strong customer service skills.

services.
