Position Overview:
The Park County Community Foundation seeks a highly motivated
and experienced Philanthropy Director. The Philanthropy Director is
a key leadership position playing a pivotal role in driving the
growth and sustainability of the organization by leading all
fundraising efforts related to the annual fund, planned giving, the
endowment, and special campaigns as required. The successful
candidate will be a seasoned development professional with a
passion for philanthropy and a strong track record of securing
funds for nonprofit organizations. The Philanthropy Director
reports directly to the Executive Director and collaborates closely
with the board of directors and other staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Strategy:
- Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan that includes
strategies for individual donors, corporate partnerships, grants,
and special campaigns. - Identify new fundraising opportunities and revenue streams to
support the foundation’s mission and growth.
- Major Donor Engagement and Stewardship:
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing donors,
foundations, and prospective supporters. - Create personalized donor stewardship plans to ensure ongoing
engagement and retention. - Recognize and acknowledge donors through appropriate
recognition and communication channels.
- Endowment:
- Lead efforts to grow the organization’s endowment fund through
strategic fundraising campaigns. - Identify potential major donors and foundations interested in
endowment support. - Develop compelling proposals and presentations to secure
endowment gifts.
- Planned Giving:
- Establish and manage a planned giving program to encourage
long-term philanthropic commitments. - Cultivate and steward relationships with individuals interested
in legacy gifts, bequests, and other planned giving options. - Collaborate with legal and financial experts to facilitate
planned giving arrangements.
- Special Purpose Funds:
- Oversee the creation and management of special-purpose funds to
address specific community needs as required.
- Grant Writing and Management:
- Research and identify grant opportunities, prepare grant
proposals, and manage the grant application process. - Ensure timely and accurate reporting to grantors and
donors.
- Fundraising Events and Campaigns:
- Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events and campaigns to
generate revenue and increase community awareness. - Collaboratively develop marketing and communication materials
to support business development activities.
- Board and Volunteer Engagement:
- Work closely with the board of directors and volunteers to
leverage their networks and engage them in fundraising
activities.
- Leadership Team:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and other members of
the leadership team to set fundraising goals and align development
efforts with the organization’s strategic priorities. - Staff-lead to the Fundraising Committee of the Board of
Directors - Participate in board meetings, providing updates on fundraising
progress and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Passion for the mission and values of the Park County Community
Foundation. - Minimum of five years of experience in philanthropy, or a
similar position with transferable skills, with a focus on major
donor fundraising, planned giving, endowment, and special purpose
funds. - Strong knowledge of fundraising techniques, donor relations,
and grant writing. - Excellent written, interpersonal, communication, and
relationship-building skills. - Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proven track record of successful fundraising and donor
engagement. - Knowledge of community foundations and the local philanthropic
landscape. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a
diverse team. - Proficiency in fundraising software and donor management
systems. - Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as
needed.
