POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: PHILANTHROPY GRANTS
Grand Canyon Conservancy (GCC) is the official nonprofit partner
of Grand Canyon National Park. As the official philanthropic and
collaborative partner of Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon
Conservancy’s mission is to inspire generations of park champions
to cherish and support the natural and cultural wonder of the Grand
Canyon. GCC raises private funds, operates retail shops within the
park, and provides premier educational programs about the natural
and cultural history of the region.
GCC is seeking a Philanthropy Grants Manager who will manage and
oversee a portfolio of annual grants by researching opportunities,
writing grants, and submitting reports. The Grants Manager will
support the Senior Officer Grants and Partnerships in major gift
grant requests and reporting. Additionally, this position will
assist in developing NPS and GCC project and program information
sheets.
The Philanthropy Grants Manager position is a remote, full-time,
exempt, benefit-eligible position. This position reports to the
Senior Officer Grants and Partnerships.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties vary with the workload and could include, but are not
limited to, the tasks listed below.
Primary Grant Responsibilities
• Manage a portfolio of grants through the proposal writing process
for private and corporate foundations, including tracking
deadlines, gathering information, and coordinating with appropriate
staff.
• Qualify prospective foundation donors regularly, routinely
submitting letters of inquiry to assist in developing a robust
pipeline of prospective foundation donors.
• Communicate and collaborate with the Senior Officer Grants and
Partnerships and Prospect Research Manager to manage and grow a
foundation strategy.
• Work with Senior Officer Grants and Partnerships Officer on
GCC-funded project updates through appropriate Grand Canyon
National Park sources to be used for donor stewardship reports,
fundraising materials, and updates Marketing/Communications.
• Represents GCC and GCNP positively and professionally.
• Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with GCC
employees, volunteers, and partners.
• Other tasks as assigned as needed.
Primary Partnership Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the CPO and Senior Officer Grants and
Partnerships Officer to track park grants and fundraising totals
for each GCC-funded project.
• Collaborate with the CPO and Senior Officer Grants and
Partnerships Officer on the park grants program to secure updates
on GCC-funded projects for grant and project reports.
• Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to identify in-park
recognition opportunities for donors.
• Collaborate with the Senior Officer Grants and Partnerships
Officer to monitor and track sponsorship/partnership revenue and
progress towards fundraising goals, providing accurate reports as
necessary.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the
successful execution of all grants and partnership benefits as
agreed upon with each partner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in grant
management or a comparable field.
• Five years of professional experience in grant writing and
reporting
• Knowledge and previous use of grant research software, such as
Instrumental.
• Skill in utilizing CRM’s and relational database systems, such as
Raiser’s Edge.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND
CHARACTERISTICS
• Familiarity with the nonprofit sector and grant application
processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively
prepare and articulate grant proposals
• Possess a high level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to
detail.
• Strong commitment to the ethical handling and management of donor
information.
• Understanding of project budgets and ability to assist in the
development of budgets and database documentation
• Ability to learn, interpret, and apply complex policies and
procedures with minimal guidance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Teams,
SharePoint, and Outlook
• Ability to collaborate with other departments in the organization
to gather information for grant proposals and reporting
• A keen eye for detail to ensure the accurate processing of grant
applications, requirements, gifts, and pledges
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple grant
applications, deadlines, and special projects simultaneously
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently in a
remote work environment
• Ability to promote and maintain a positive work environment while

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Performs 70% of job duties in an office setting, working with a
computer and colleagues.
• Sit for long periods, up to four consecutive hours at a
time
• Regularly works outside on special assignments and travels to
meet donors
• May occasionally work more than 40 hours per week or on weekends
and holidays to meet critical deadlines and for special
functions

TOTAL COMPENSATION
GCC provides a comprehensive benefits package including vacation
and holiday pay, sick leave, Canyon Experience Days,

employer-paid long-term disability, and life insurance,
employer-paid 401(k) retirement plan, and discounts in our retail
stores and Grand Canyon Conservancy Field Institute offerings. The
hiring salary range for the position is $65,000 to $75,000
annually.
