Philanthropy Manager, Annual Giving

Reports to: Director of Philanthropy, Annual & Planned Giving

A collaborative and flexible working style. You can support the goals of the team and collaborate with supervisors and leadership as well as collaborate across and within teams. Strong emotional intelligence is a must. You can work remotely and travel occasionally and strategically.

A strong technical proficiency with CRMs. You have experience maintaining detailed donor records and moves management tracking in a CRM. You are a strategic thinker and planner and can analyze data to inform strategy. Additionally, you can monitor incoming gift reports to ensure donors are thanked within 24-48 hou

HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR MISSION:

  • With the Director of Philanthropy, Annual & Planned Giving, support the philanthropy team’s goals and meet annual revenue targets by qualifying, stewarding, and advancing relationships with a portfolio of donors and prospects that may include individuals, family foundations, businesses, and organizations.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and conservation teams to develop personalized communications and content for donors.
  • Help plan and implement donor-focused events.
  • Help strategize for and manage your portfolio using relevant technology.
  • Pursue all of the above objectives in alignment with our core values.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A demonstrated ability to solicit 4-5 figure gifts. You have prior experience initiating, stewarding and advancing relationships with a portfolio of donors and prospects that may include individuals, family foundations, businesses, and organizations. This includes experience developing creative and customized growth-oriented engagement strategies that match the objectives of the organization with the interests of the donor. These strategies positively and respectfully engage donors and solicit gifts from individuals with diverse backgrounds, interests and experiences. This also includes experience representing your organization in virtual and in-person meetings with donors.
  • A consistent prioritization of meeting portfolio goals and key performance indicators. You have a strong track record of meeting or exceeding annual revenue goals and KPIs.
  • The ability to segment portfolios and produce targeted communications. You have strong writing skills and a demonstrated ability to create copy with a sense of urgency that compels a donor to give or get engaged while staying on brand. You will need to have experience writing copy such as proposals, reports, updates and more that are customized to the donor.
  • A sophisticated knowledge of techniques and best practices in individual giving. You have an interest in staying current on fundraising trends, best practices and ethics. You can use data and your strong interpersonal skills to create customized donor strategies based on best practices. You can proactively pursue and qualify new prospects. You have experience coordinating webinars, online events and in-person events.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Rainforest Trust is a remote first organization and the incumbent will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection, though part-time office space may be available in Warrenton, VA and/or Washington DC.

Up to 20%. Occasional national and/or international travel may be required for donor meetings, organizational meetings and other events.

Location: This candidate is ideally based in the Central or Western United States.

ANTICIPATED SALARY

The salary range for this position is $73,000- $85,000 commensurate with experience. This base compensation range represents the anticipated low and high range of wages for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
