Established by the Georgetown University College of Arts & Sciences in 1967, the Department of Psychology is an intellectually diverse community of scholars engaged in research addressing both basic psychological processes and social issues.
Job Overview
The research conducted by Department of Psychology’s Stress, Health, and Development Lab examines how stressful experiences influence physical health and disease risk across the lifespan. Current directions of the lab include understanding the pathways through which early experiences of stress contribute to disease risk in adulthood, with a particular focus on the role of the immune system. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team in an on-demand, part-time basis .
The Phlebotomist has duties that include but are not limited to collecting fasting blood samples from pediatric research participants, ensuring their comfort and safety, and accurately labeling and storing the specimens for analysis.
Phlebotomist duties require morning weekday and weekend availability – between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. – and flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of our research participants. Hours range from 0 to 14 for any given week.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
Closely supervised by the Principal Investigator (PI), the Phlebotomist works with lab members – including graduate students, undergraduate research assistants, and staff – and with research participants from the Georgetown University community and greater DC area.
This position has been designated as On-Campus. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
