The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an academic Breast Oncology Surgeon to join the Department of Surgery. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position Overview
The Division of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery is seeking an experienced fellowship-trained, clinically and academically focused breast surgical oncologist to join our elite team of experts at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. The candidate will join the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center which offers the full continuum of breast cancer care — from prevention and screening through detection, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship — in one world-class facility. The candidate will provide exemplary breast multidisciplinary surgical oncology patient care; be an enthusiastic teacher of medical students, residents, fellows, as well as other healthcare professionals. The position requires a strong participatory interest in service commitment to relevant local, regional, national, and international professional organizations and programs. The rank of appointment is open and will be determined consistent with prior professional and academic accomplishments. This position will have resources for academic pursuits in either tenure or clinical track appointments.

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) – faculty positions within the university that are not tenure track and not eligible for tenure, on a fixed term contract. Persons with the title of professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, assistant professor-clinical and instructor-clinical. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty department and, as appropriate, regional campus; Clinical faculty are teachers/practitioners and will be engaged primarily in teaching activities. These faculty normally have earned a doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field or equivalent experience.
Tenured faculty (regardless of rank) – persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service, and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned a doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Successful completion of a Surgical Oncology or Breast fellowship
Eligible for a State of Ohio Medical License
Qualify for an academic appointment – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience.

Job Summary: The Physician provides licensed medical care including diagnosis, treatment (inclusive of surgery or pre/post-surgical care where appropriate), case management and clinical research. The Physician manages complex and sometimes unpredictable situations. The Physician must be competent in technical, clinical and surgical skills (where appropriate), cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving the above mentioned services. The Physician is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and physician’s standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center.
Required Qualifications: Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified or board eligible in specialization required. State of Ohio and DEA licensure required.
