Position Title: Program Manager, Nursing
Position Classification: Temporary (grant funded through December 2027); Exempt; Full-Time; 40 Hours/Week
Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer
Location: Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S. or hybrid of these two options. Up to 40% international travel required

Position Overview:
The Program Manager, Nursing is an integral member of the Nursing team and will work closely with clinical systems, nursing, and clinical leadership across Partners In Health (PIH) around priority initiatives. They will work closely with the Africa-based Regional Nurse Advisor and support a growing portfolio of donor, grant, and partnership management. This position will keep a “pulse” on all programs, projects and activities within the nursing team portfolio and will be responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of activities, capturing and sharing best practices across sites, developing key resource documents, and creating opportunities for sharing and exchange. The Program Manager, Nursing will be required to travel to specific care delivery sites, including Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Rwanda, and Sierra Leone, to provide direct support for ongoing initiatives, support planning and priority setting, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives and local needs. This position will also support the clinical systems team and site-based nursing and clinical leadership to optimize clinical systems and resource management. The position aims to strengthen cohesion, community, and collaboration across teams both at the U.S. Coordination Site and our global care delivery sites.
Responsibilities:
Program and Grants Portfolio Management (60%)
Oversees and liaises with all programs & projects within the Nursing team portfolio, providing facilitation from project ideation to implementation, and ensuring the right stakeholders are involved at the right point in the process.
Provides oversight and program coordination with multiple PIH teams providing technical input into ongoing grant deliverables & activities, including the implementation of a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework, donor relations and fiscal oversight.
Manage grant program activities in collaboration with project management teams at coordination & care delivery sites to ensure alignment to local needs and context and support planning and implementation as needed. The Program Manager will be responsible for documentation of activities in the form of reports, newsletters, and PowerPoint presentations, showing progress towards short-term project goals as well as long-term strategic plan goals.
Collaborate with the Finance team to track ~10 million dollars of multi-year grant funding, meet financial reporting deadlines, and help coordinate and manage contracts and vendor relationships.
Liaise with Clinical Systems and Nursing teams at U.S. Coordination and care delivery sites to support clinical systems that optimize patient care and resource management.
Raise visibility of the work happening at care delivery sites in priority areas to influence and drive PIH organizational priorities, in alignment with the PIH Strategic Plan; track and document the impact of grant activities to create opportunities for future funding streams.
Team Operations, Processes, & Knowledge Management (40%)
Provide technical input to the PIH Nursing & Midwifery annual work plan and organizational strategy to support key nursing leaders across all sites; lead fiscal year planning process for nursing teams supported by cross-site funding by meeting with each site to determine local priorities and opportunities.
Supervise team of program associates who collectively manage internal processes, operations, and shared content of coordination site nursing team, as well as their collaborative processes with nursing teams at our care delivery sites, including but not limited to content development, donor relations, and human resources processes.
Provide oversight to programmatic team members who collectively design, build, and maintain repository of operational, educational, and clinical resources housed in Microsoft (MS) SharePoint, which are shared with various PIH teams.
Work with key M&E staff to develop the overall data strategy for the nursing team; identify key statistics and information to be synthesized, visualized, and presented in a useful, structured, and meaningful way.
Steward existing and new academic and institutional relationships as well as strategic partnerships; represent nursing team at stakeholder and cross-site meetings.
Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of experience in a relevant field (e.g., public health, public administration, health care management, or international development)
Proven experience leading complex projects from strategy design to implementation, with strong organizational and administrative skills to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing workflows
Strategic thinking with the ability to work proactively in fast-paced environments, quickly learn on the job, and synthesize diverse information effectively
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word); proficiency in Canva and MS SharePoint preferred
Proficiency in written and spoken English required. Attainment of basic Spanish, French, and/or Haitian language skills strongly desirable
Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries
Interest in social justice strongly desirable
Previous management experience
Remote work experience preferred.

Pay and Benefits
The expected starting salary range for new hires in this position is between $75,000-$85,000/year and may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position belongs to a class of roles that have a salary range between $75,000 and $95,000/year. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Full time employees will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 3 volunteer days in addition to paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, the week of July 4th, and 11 additional holidays annually.
