SUMMARY
USA for UNHCR is seeking a highly motivated and experienced
Planned Giving Officer (PGO) to join our dynamic Private
Philanthropy team. As a PGO, you will play a crucial role in
building and maintaining relationships with planned giving donors
and prospects to secure significant future financial support for
UNHCR’s humanitarian efforts worldwide. Reporting to the Senior
Manager, Planned Giving, you will contribute to the organization’s
mission of providing life-saving assistance and protection to
refugees and displaced persons around the globe.
The Planned Giving team at USA for UNHCR has an aggressive
3-year plan to secure a significant number of hand-raisers
(substantively interested prospects for planned giving) to grow the
planned giving program into a mature and predictable revenue stream
for UNHCR. The PGO manages a qualified portfolio of individual
planned gift donors/prospects, works in collaboration with the team
to meet the team hand-raiser goal, and contributes toward the
Private Philanthropy team revenue goal through the stewardship and
administration of realized bequests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Moves individual planned giving donors and prospects through
the stages of engagement through in-person visits, video
conferencing, and telephone calls. - Works collaboratively with the Major Gift team to provide
service and information to donors and prospects during blended gift
opportunities. - Works in conjunction with Senior Manager, Planned Giving and
Director of Pipeline Development to identify potential planned gift
donors and secure interest in legacy giving in new and existing
relationships. - Updates CRM (currently Salesforce) with contact reports,
engagement plans and tasks to ensure continuity of donor management
and accurate tracking toward goals.
- Works with the Senior Associate, Legacy Giving to create
donor-centered stewardship communications and engagement
opportunities for hand-raisers. - Identifies/secures opportunities to raise visibility of and
secure support for USA for UNHCR through increased relationships
with wealth management and philanthropic advising firms, as well as
business and philanthropic leaders. - Take on other tasks as directed by the Senior Manager, Planned
Giving and Senior Director, Private Philanthropy.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 8 years of related experience; Bachelor’s degree.

- Knowledge of principles of frontline fundraising in planned
giving, including donor motivations and the predominant financial
vehicles used to make planned gifts (CGAs, IRAs, etc.) - Understanding of planned giving cultivation strategies and how
they differ from major giving strategies. - Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal
skills - Ability to synthesize complex programs and projects into
concise, compelling proposals and donor communication assets. - Proven project management skills
- Outstanding self-motivational skills
- Proficiency in CRM (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office
(Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Knowledge of international humanitarian issues and/or
experience working in the refugee or development sector is
desirable. - Must be self-sufficient and self-motivated
- Demonstrates sound judgement and strong decision-making
skills - Demonstrates emotional intelligence and integrity when
interacting with employees, peers and donors - Must be able to work successfully, both individually and as

outreach - Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy certification, Certified
Specialist in Planned Giving certification or Experience in
financial services sector preferred
WORK LOCATION
Hybrid + New York, NY + May also involve travel to some
locations within the company’s region of operations and select
donor locations.
COMPENSATION
$116,359 – $126,937
