We’re seeking a dedicated Plumbing Supervisor to join our team and lead maintenance, repair, and installation projects for fresh and foul wastewater systems, irrigation systems, heating systems, and more at our various locations.

As a Plumbing Supervisor, you’ll play a crucial role in supervising and scheduling maintenance tasks, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and adhering to plumbing codes and regulations. Your responsibilities will include managing a team of plumbers, coordinating with other trades and contractors, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, organizing onsite corrective maintenance repairs and updates on related systems under their responsibility.  In addition, assist the planning team by providing specialist guidance on plumbing, heating, water system, LPG and expertise as and when required.
  • Supervises a team of up to 12 workers delivering the required technical works and services.  This includes prioritizing, scheduling, and supervising tasks where practicable, competency training, performance management, absence and roster management, skills assessments, setting performance standards, providing a clean and safe working environment, and ensuring equipment maintenance records are updated.
  • Ensuring prescribed health and safety practices and procedures are adhered to, including but not limited to, conduct of startup meetings, toolbox talks, safety walk-throughs, up to date risk assessments, and work method statements.
  • Work with the team to resolve technical problems quickly, using the required and provided test equipment, analytical techniques and careful inspection.
  • Monitors preventive maintenance programs (run by others) and, when needed, suggests and, where practical, makes improvements.
  • Maintains equipment and special tooling allocated to the team and maintains any vehicles allocated in a clean and tidy condition.  In addition, ensure that pre-use equipment and vehicle operator checks are performed and recorded as required.
  • Reports to the FMM any tradesman who is unsafe, a danger to others or not technically competent for formal re-training and replacement if necessary.
  • Maintains accurate records of all work accomplished and ensures that such records are entered into SAP.  Ensures that work orders passed to the team are completed within the priority set and any requirements for spares that are not in stock are processed through the work order system promptly (such as by the end of day the requirement was first identified).
  • Ensures that all spare parts and materials held in the workshop are correctly stored, labelled and segregated to prevent the incorrect items from being selected accidentally.  Ensures that all materials are used efficiently, and waste is avoided. Ensures that workshop stock is used only for MFO purposes and is not misused or misappropriated.
  • Shall use the SAP system to check work order status, priority, requirements, material requirements and manpower times allocated.
  • Provides 24 hour “on call” support as required and to meet work roster, emergencies or Force mission requirements.
  • Maintains an accident book for his work area and staff and records details of all occasions where staff seek medical attention at a dispensary.
  • Performs other duties as required by his or her supervisor.

Our Requirements

  • Ability to: read, interpret and work from blueprints; prepare rough sketches of work and estimates of material and labor; select proper materials to be used; work cooperatively with others; skillfully use the proper tools.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan and supervise the work of subordinates.
  •  Must hold a valid Home Country driver`s license and be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate MFO driving license.
  • Good command of both written and spoken English.
  •  Proficiency with MS Office Suite and knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning tools

Education and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma/college education
  • NVQ Level/3/4 or equivalent in plumbing and heating engineering, to include working with gas.
  • 10+ years’, within the service industry involving Plumbing, thorough knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology, and safety precautions of the plumbing trade. Thorough knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials, skilled in the use of plumbing tools and equipment.
  • 3+ years in a supervisory role in plumbing operations.
  • The qualfications and experience should be equivalent to a Master Plumber Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

·         This position carries an annual total salary of USD64,205.

·         A two-year, renewable, unaccompanied-status contract including free housing, meals, worldwide health insurance and recreational facilities is offered. May be eligible for tax free status.

·         Any appointment/extension of appointment is subject to the MFO HR Directives and other relevant internal rules. Any offer of employment with the MFO is conditional upon certification by the MFO Medical Adviser that the person concerned is medically fit to perform the specific inherent requirements of the position offered. To confirm an offer from the MFO the successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical examination.

·         Any extension of employment contracts is subject to various elements including the following:  continuing need of the functions and satisfactory conduct and performance.
