Job title:

PM183241 – Service Manager

Company

NHS Scotland

Job description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society. The Aberdeen Centre for Reproductive Medicine (Aberdeen Fertility Centre) was established in 1985 and provides a broad range of fertility treatments for patients in the North East of Scotland and the Highlands and Islands. The centre is licenced by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) and is certified to the quality standards ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 15189:2012 (transitioning to 15189:2022 later this year).A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a high calibre Service Manager to join our team currently based in the Aberdeen Maternity Hospital. The post holder will join at an exciting time as the service looks to move to the new Baird Family Hospital.About the role:Please read the job description associated with the role carefully; the service operates under licence of the HFEA and a significant element of the role is ensuring continued compliance with the regulatory framework through effective implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS).Another key aspect of the role is working closely with medical, nursing, laboratory and administrative colleagues to ensure that every patient journey is managed effectively, the best possible care is delivered, resources are used efficiently and that any avoidable delays in the patient pathway are mitigated. You will also be responsible for line management of the business support manager. In addition, the funding model for the service is different to many other services in that we generate some of our own income, and there is an opportunity to think entrepreneurially about how we maximise income generation.About you:We are looking for someone with significant service management experience within a multi-disciplinary clinical environment. It is essential that you are able to demonstrate a strong pedigree in working in a highly regulated environment; you will need to demonstrate a good working knowledge of QMS thinking and be able to evidence the value you have delivered to services you have managed.Although we do not necessarily expect applicants to have any fertility experience, we do expect those invited to interview to evidence a level of preparation which reflects the fantastic opportunity this role offers; as part of that preparation we will expect evidence of a reasonable understanding of the applicable regulatory and quality frameworks. We welcome any informal enquires; in the first instance, please email the service Business Manger, Neville Trower to arrange a follow up chat: [email protected].ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATESYou should apply for this post by completing the application process on Jobtrain.
