We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Podiatrist to join our Central Podiatry Team in Northumberland. Based at Nursery Park Health Centre they will provide care to moderate and high-risk patients in a variety of settings. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently. The podiatry team liaise with wider multidisciplinary teams, both in the community and hospital settings, as part of providing safe and quality patient focussed care.Main duties of the jobProviding efficient, effective, and high-quality treatment to the patient in a range of different settings.To provide treatment plans for high risk and moderate level patients with podiatric problems. The care plans include a course of treatment, foot health education, advice and discharge as appropriate.To assess, diagnose, develop, implement, and review individual care plans for patients with a wide range of clinical needs.To manage an individual caseload that will provide specialist care. To commit to the philosophy of care with emphasis on patient empowerment and independence by providing education to help patients manage their own foot needs.To provide services at a wide variety of sites including a patient’s home, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals and in challenging conditions, often working in isolation.Should you be successful, you will be required to carry a clinical caseload of patients with a wide variety of conditions, ensuring that patients benefit from high quality, evidence-based interventions, which you will deliver and record according to professional standards and legal requirements.About usWe manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. - Have a relevant diploma/ degree in Chiropody/ Podiatric Medicine from a recognised institution and have previous accumulated postgraduate experience
- Demonstrate continued registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Have a certificate in local anaesthesia.

Experience and KnowledgeEssential
- Have a history of continual professional development whilst continuing to attend organised departmental and regional/ national events. The post holder will be expected to have a high degree of knowledge over a wide range of clinical conditions including diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral vascular disease, biomechanics and must have developed a high level of manual dexterity.
- Experience of working in the NHS and completion of a Senior II competency programme.
