Function
As a Policy Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting all of the General Secretary’s policy activities. You will enjoy a varied role with diverse contacts as well as room for ownership and a career path.
Key Responsibilities
- Research: Conduct pertinent research and analysis to assist in decision-making processes.
- Political Advice and Support: Provide political advice to the General Secretary and draft briefings, strategy proposals, presentations and speeches for her validation.
- Networking: Establish and maintain contacts with both the institutions and other external stakeholders.
- Meeting Management: Assist in organising and facilitating all the General Secretary’s internal and external meetings.
- ETF Governing Bodies: Coordinate and lead the preparation of ETF Governing Bodies including drafting the agenda and monitoring the implementation of decisions.
- Liaison with ITF: Liaise with the ITF Strategic Implementation Team to coordinate joint ETF/ITF projects and policies.
- Solidarity: Design and coordinate solidarity actions to support affiliates in disputes.
- Collaboration: Cooperate with other ETF Departments and Communications Officers.
Profile
- Education: Master’s Degree in EITHER Political Sciences OR EU Law OR EU Studies OR Sociology.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years‘ experience in trade unions is essential.
- Values: Strong commitment to trade unions values.
- Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English, additional languages are always an asset for such a multicultural organisation.
- Communication: Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and remain diplomatic at all times.
- Project Management: Excellent planning, analysis and problem solving skills.
- Proactivity: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision.
- IT Skills: Proficient in MS Office.
- Travel: Willingness and availability to travel 1/2 times per month.

Hiring Process

- 2nd Interview in person with Livia Spera, General Secretary, (Your Future Manager) and Josef Maurer, Head of Operations, Central and Eastern Europe and Equalities, (ETF covers reasonable travel costs for non-Brussels based applicants).
