Maine Audubon is a widely respected conservation organization with headquarters located in Falmouth, Maine, and influence statewide. Our mission is to conserve Maine’s wildlife and habitat through conservation, education, and advocacy. We are seeking a Policy Advocate to advance Maine Audubon’s mission by advocating for strong wildlife and wildlife habitat policies at the local and state level and compel our members, supporters, and the public to action on behalf of conservation. This position will lead our work to advance solar, wind, and other renewable energy technologies and infrastructure, as well as support our advocacy efforts in areas such as land use planning, habitat connectivity, and environmental justice.

Requirements of the Policy Advocate

  • Experience with legislative, policy, and/or planning initiatives at the state and/or federal level, including strategic communication strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience influencing policy makers including government agencies, elected officials, and partners.
  • High level of comfort interacting with the general public and working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Passion for Maine Audubon’s mission, and familiarity with Maine climate and clean energy laws and regulations.

Benefits of the Job:

  • Annual pay $65K – $70K
  • Hybrid (30% remote) work schedule

Responsibilities of the Policy Advocate

As a key member of the Advocacy Team, the Policy Advocate will be responsible for spearheading our organization’s efforts to transition Maine to a clean energy future – leading our work to advance solar, wind, and other renewable energy technologies and infrastructure while minimizing impact to wildlife and habitat.
