Position description
Europe Jacques Delors is looking for a full-time (38 hours/week) Policy Analyst (F/M/D), based in Brussels. The position is to be filled from 1st September, initially for the duration of a year, with the possibility to extend.
Europe Jacques Delors is focusing on sustainability and environmental issues, working on several topics ranging from greening trade, agrifood, ocean protection, green finance and green diplomacy. We are a young dynamic team of 10 people working at the SustainableHub in the European Quarter.
Your tasks:
- Build and develop the research area on EU green industrial policy and the upcoming EU competitiveness and economic security agenda, in close coordination with the Director of Studies and the Green Trade programme. This includes building a sustainable network in the field, in Brussels and in national capitals;
- Develop projects from conception to implementation, including drafting project proposals, engaging with funders, planning and managing project deliverables, and carry out reporting obligations;
- Research and draft policy papers on green industrial policy, including topics such as green subsidies, clean tech supply chains, critical raw materials, as well as investment instruments and financing;
- Organise both working level and high-level events and roundtables, including conceptualisation, invitation of speakers and participants, coordination of logistics, communications activities as well as follow-up;
- Monitor relevant legislative files; provide timely advice and policy analysis; help to keep sustainability issues at the top of the EU’s economic agenda in the next mandate;
- Organise, prepare and follow up meetings and events for our Vice-Presidents on the topic and carry out a range of research tasks including briefings;
- Work closely with the communications team, e.g. preparing briefings for events, conceptualising events, sending out invitations to speakers, conducting research for forthcoming publications, developing communication and dissemination strategies for your projects.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in economics, political science, social sciences, history or a related field. Basic knowledge of EU economic policy is necessary for this position;
- Full proficiency in English (C2) and French (listening and reading level for French at least B2);
- Proven professional experience (at least 3-5 years) in any field related to policy and research;
- Previous experience in think tanks, foundations, research or consultancy is considered an asset;
- Strong research, writing and editing skills;
- Excellent organisational skills, strong time management skills and the ability to respond to urgent tasks;
- Advanced knowledge of the European Union, its institutions, and legislative processes; good knowledge of the European Green Deal is considered an asset;
- A strong sense of initiative, a commitment to Europe Jacques Delors issues and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
