Position description
SOLV Energy seeks a Policy Associate with a passion for renewable energy and public affairs to join the Government Affairs team. The Policy Associate will support SOLV Energy by scheduling internal and external meetings, sending routine correspondence, maintaining various documents and databases, providing administrative support to the team, and by conducting policy research, such as tracking legislation, agency activities, and some regulatory processes. The successful applicant will report to the Director of Federal Affairs and work with internal teams to engage relevant stakeholders and demonstrate the company’s value as a nationally renowned solar services provider.
This is a position based in the Washington, D.C. area with in-office requirements.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

Collaborates with Marketing, Communications, and Community Relations to coordinate project ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, and other events.

Drafts routine correspondence, including e-mail communications to SOLV Energy team members, Capitol Hill, and regulatory agencies.

Organizes and coordinates internal and external facing meetings between colleagues, industry partners, clients, policymakers, and trade associations.

Maintains updated documents and databases, including keeping fact sheets, one-pagers, and other advocacy materials up to date.

Monitors and reports on federal and targeted state policy developments, both legislative and regulatory.

Submits expense reports and invoices and communicates with outside consultants to ensure appropriate reporting and compliance.

Provides general administrative support to the Government Affairs team.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, political science, public policy, international relations, or another related discipline.

1+ years of experience, preferably in a Congressional office, trade association, lobbying firm, advocacy organization, or other public affairs capacity.

Able to work directly with internal and external stakeholders, with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (written and verbal) skills.

Best-in-class scheduling, time-management, and planning abilities.

Able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously with little supervision.

A detail-oriented self-starter capable of successfully engaging multi-disciplinary teams.

Desire to contribute to an industry-leading company culture.

Fluent in relevant computer skills including the operation and functioning of all programs used by the organization (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
