Salary: Grade 6 (£30,487 – £36,024 p.a. depending on experience)

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you an ambitious person who wants to help translate world-leading research into policy impact? Are you keen to engage both with researchers and policy makers at local, national or international levels? Can you help researchers from diverse areas to collaborate with policy makers to strengthen the influence and impact of research from across the University of Leeds on policy design?

Fostering civic-academic partnerships and engagement with local, regional and national institutions forms a key aspect of our University strategy, enabling the University to play a greater leadership role in driving the economic, social and cultural growth of the region and contributing directly to the government’s levelling-up and place agenda.

The Knowledge Exchange & Impact Team within our Research & Innovation Service is seeking a highly self-motivated individual with a positive attitude, to provide support for a portfolio of policy engagement projects, based here at Leeds. Reporting to the Head of Regional Development and Engagement, your primary role will be to provide project support to projects which are collaborative with other regional universities, local authorities, businesses and public and third sector organisations. This will include supporting the activities/development of two key initiatives at the University:

  • Policy Leeds , which plays a major role in connecting researchers and policy professionals in order to inform policy development at local, national and international level; and
  • Yorkshire & Humber Policy Engagement & Research Network (Y-PERN) , a £3.9m Research England Development Fund project which works across academia and policy to identify areas of collaboration on some of the major opportunities and challenges facing the region.

You will need strong planning, organisational and communication skills, the ability to complete tasks quickly and to a high standard, and to have a proactive and flexible approach to work.

What we offer in return:

  • 26 days holiday plus 16 Bank Holidays/days that the University is closed by custom (including Christmas) – that’s 42 days a year!
  • Generous pension scheme options plus life assurance.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Discounted staff membership options at The Edge, our state-of-the-art Campus gym, with a pool, sauna, climbing wall, cycle circuit, and sports halls.
  • Personal Development: Access to courses run by our Organisational Development & Professional Learning team, and self-development courses including languages, Creative Writing, Wellbeing Therapies and much more.
  • Access to on-site childcare, shopping discounts and travel schemes are also available.

And much more!
