Job Description:
The policy director is responsible for developing, implementing,
and managing policies that align with the organization’s goals and
objectives. This individual is responsible for researching and
analyzing policy issues, identifying trends and potential impacts,
and developing recommendations for action. The policy director
collaborates closely with stakeholders, including government
officials, community groups, and other organizations, to promote
the organization’s goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the organization’s policies that align
with the goals and objectives. Work closely with senior management
and other stakeholders to ensure policies are consistent with legal
and regulatory requirements and designed to address emerging issues
and trends. - Conduct research and analysis on policy issues related to the
Foundation’s mission and goals. Identify trends and potential
impacts and develop recommendations for action based on their
findings. - Works closely with stakeholders, including government
officials, community groups, and other organizations, to promote
the Foundation’s goals and objectives. Represent the Foundation in
public forums and advocate for policy changes that support the
Foundation’s mission. - Manages policy initiatives from conception to implementation.
Works with other departments to ensure that policies are
effectively communicated and implemented and monitors and evaluates
policy outcomes to ensure that they are achieving their intended
goals. - Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including
government officials, community groups, and other organizations.
Collaborates with these stakeholders to identify common goals and
develop strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least four years of experience in the
duties and responsibilities specified. - Knowledge of policy concepts, principles, methodology, and
techniques. - Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge to specific policy and
procedures programs. - Ability to develop, direct, manage, and evaluate strategic
policy plans, programs, and activities applicable to the
Foundation. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability
to work effectively with various constituencies within a diverse
community. - Skill in examining and formulating policy and developing and
implementing new strategies and procedures. - Knowledge of management principles and practices.
- Ability to advise effectively, counsel on policy issues, and
exercise effective judgment. - Knowledge of current and emerging policy issues and trends
applicable to philanthropic institutions. - Ability to develop and deliver oral presentations and written
materials for various audiences and venues. - Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions.
