ELO is seeking a temporary placement on forestry issues – Policy Officer

(Starting date as soon as possible)

 

The European Landowners Organization (ELO) (www.elo.org), is seeking someone, preferably among the membership, with knowledge of forestry that would be willing to support ELO in its policy /project work related to this topic.

Job description

You will work within the ELO team to contribute to policy, project and advocacy work. You will provide support mainly by carry out the following tasks:

  • Monitor and report on the development of EU forest-related policies;
  • Framing ELO positions on EU-forest related policies and engaging with EU institutions;
  • Gather and report technical information;
  • Represent ELO in forestry-related meetings and events;
  • Support the project(s) team(s) in their respective tasks within their associated projects, ensuring; that the tasks of the projects are delivered to the highest standards;
  • Manage internal and external expectations;
  • Secure a good relationship with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Secure a positive and professional image of ELO.

Profile

  • BSc in Forest Sciences or MSc in Natural Sciences (forest sciences, biology, ecology, …);
  • Full professional proficiency in English;
  • Good writing/editing skills in English and confidence in verbal expression;
  • Understanding of functioning of EU institutions and EU policy making is an asset;
  • Team player, with a positive attitude, sociable and reliable;
  • Ability to work independently.

What we offer

  • 5 months full-time equivalent, with possibility to extend;
  • Starting date: as soon as possible;
  • Working in an international and dynamic culture at the centre of EU affairs;
  • An educating experience in policy and advocacy at EU level;
  • Place of work: ELO Brussels office, mostly
  • Monthly allowance depending on experience and background
