As a biologist guide, you will lead and educate guests on unforgettable eco-tours that showcase the rich marine and terrestrial ecosystems of Cape Verde. You will be guiding various excursions such as shark experiences, turtle walks, snorkelling excursions, bike and hike tours, and birdwatching. This is an excellent opportunity to share your passion for nature while providing insightful commentary on the unique flora and fauna of the island. Job criteria

We are seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Possessing a degree in (marine) biology or a related field such as conservation, ecology, aquaculture, biodiversity, animal behaviour, etc.
  • Proficient in Polish and English OR German and English.
  • Proficiency in an additional language, such as French or Dutch is preferred, but not essential.
  • Demonstrating enthusiasm for raising environmental awareness.
  • Being a team player who enjoys collaborating within an international team comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Capable to guide excursions by bike.
  • Possess good swimming skills.
  • Available to work from at least mid-June (or earlier) until the end of September (staying beyond the end of September is possible and preferred).

Location

Explore Cape Verde is located in Sal Island, Cape Verde. Sal is the most touristic island of the archipelago. It is colourful and vibrant yet maintains a relaxed, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. ‘No stress’ is the local motto here. Sal is a fantastic place to live, both for work and leisure.  There are a wide variety of things to do in Sal, such as numerous water sports (e.g. surfing, kitesurfing, diving, sailing, snorkelling, bodyboarding), also activities such as hiking, and cycling or more relaxing activities such as yoga, birdwatching or spending time at the beautiful beaches here. Should you decide to join our team and relocate to this charming little island, we will offer you our full support by allocating you a point of contact who will be available to answer any questions you might have throughout your relocation. We will supply you with contacts for rental agencies to assist in securing housing accommodations. Additionally, we will assist you in getting settled once you arrive in Sal, and provide you with a welcome pack, detailing lots of useful information to help you feel at home.

Work contract

An employment contract will be provided, and taxes and insurance will be deducted monthly in compliance with local employment and taxation regulations. The working week is from Monday to Saturday. Salary details will be discussed upon application, with rates exceeding those typically offered in the local tourism market. In addition to the regular daytime work, from July to September we also offer evening turtle walks, providing an opportunity to earn extra payment.

Please be aware that you will be expected to apply for a work visa within your first 30 days of working in Sal. Should you be a successful candidate, after interview we will inform you of any necessary documentation you may need to bring with you and direct you to the necessary government departments in Sal
