Job Description
We currently have a vacancy for an Analyst in our Europe Risk Insight team. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities and confidence using quantitative data to drive analytical conclusions, including experience in data visualisation techniques. The analyst will support the team in generating in-depth and forward-looking analysis of political, regulatory, economic, social and security developments in the region for a wide range of clients. Knowledge and experience of analysing European social and political developments for a business focused audience is ideal, but not essential.
Main Responsibilities
- Supports the production of consistent, sophisticated, high-quality analysis that addresses key commercially relevant political, regulatory, security and economic issues across Europe.
- Uses risk indices, analytics and other quantitative capabilities in conjunction with qualitative research to bring industry-leading analysis to clients.
- Ensures that content remains deeply client focused, is data-led, and sector specific where relevant.
- Act as a source of live insight for Verisk Maplecroft’s clients via analyst calls and ad hoc presentations.
- Interacts regularly with contacts and clients at a senior level within a region or sector, understanding priorities, advising and enhancing Maplecroft’s reputation.
- Provides innovative ideas, scenarios and solutions to support improvements in internal processes.
- Contributes to the updating and reviewing of Verisk Maplecroft’s qualitative risk indices in accordance with our methodologies and procedures.
- Supports members of the Verisk Maplecroft sales teams with business development activities as a representative of the Europe Risk Insight team.
- Develops Verisk Maplecroft’s network of sources and contacts across Europe.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in economics, international relations, political science, economics or another relevant field is preferred.
- Robust quantitative skills, including proficiency with statistical techniques; experience in data visualisation will be strongly advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Some professional experience in a relevant field, including political risk analysis, consulting, development or journalism is preferred.
- Track record of covering key economic markets in Europe, and understanding of their political, social and economic context.
- Sound understanding of salient political, social and regulatory issues and developments within the EU and broader region, particularly with regards to sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
- Keen commercial acumen and the ability to think laterally when dealing with clients.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to audiences of different levels of expertise.
- Excellent written and spoken English, particularly in relation to analytical writing.
- Competency in other regional languages is a distinct advantage.
- Excels in a collaborative environment which translates into an ability to work with colleagues in multiple locations across different time zones.
- An ability to thrive in an environment of robust peer review.
- Organisational and planning skills and the ability to work independently
- Experience working with the financial and insurance sectors will be a plus
