Elections ACT is offering a unique opportunity for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to work as casual staff in our new low-sensory polling place for the 2024 ACT Legislative Assembly. This polling location is designed specifically for electors who require a low sensory voting experience, away from the noise and stimulation of a regular polling place.
We are looking for individuals with experience in supporting the neurodiverse community, who can help create a welcoming and calm environment for voters. As a casual staff member, you will play a vital role in assisting voters, issuing ballot papers, managing queues, monitoring ballot boxes, and ensuring that all votes are accurately sorted and counted.
Key Details:
- Location: Civic, Canberra City
- Dates: Early voting from 8 October to 18 October; Election Day on 19 October
- Role: Assist and support neurodiverse and low-sensory voters throughout their voting experience.

As an Electoral Officer, the person occupying this position will be required to perform duties during the early voting period from 8 October to 18 October and on election day and weekends.
Working with vulnerable people card/ Working with children’s check is desirable.
A casual employee must be an Australian citizen or have Australian permanent residency status. The casual employees must be registered in an electoral role to issue votes.
