IFC’s Corporate Portfolio Management Department (CPM) is seeking to recruit a Portfolio Analyst in its Global Debt and Operations Support unit (CPMDO). CPM is responsible for: (i) providing corporate and strategic level reviews of IFC’s investment portfolio, including granular data and historical and forward looking analytics of portfolio trends, risk, and profitability; (ii) providing thought leadership on how IFC can create a portfolio that balances profitability, risk and development impact; (iii) systematically capturing lessons of experience, with the goal of these being incorporated into IFC’s strategy and new investments, in order to improve IFC’s performance and outcomes; (iv) developing, and supporting the management of, portfolio systems as well as portfolio related knowledge tools; and, (v) managing the LIBOR transition process for IFC’s existing debt  portfolio. 

 

Duties and Accountability

The selected candidate will primarily focus on:

•  Assist in preparing portfolio data analytics to support CPM’s ongoing portfolio reporting to the Board and IFC’s Senior Management Team, amongst others, and actively contribute to the team’s thought leadership as it relates to IFC’s debt portfolio. 
•  Perform in-depth analyses of IFC’s debt portfolio’s growth, profitability, risk, and other characteristics across many segments of the debt business such as products, regions, industries, countries.
•  Collect data and perform analysis on IFC’s debt portfolio exposures and their flows over time (new business pipeline, cancellations, repayments and prepayments, and other flows) in order to develop parameters and assumptions to support forward-looking debt portfolio projections/forecasting.
•  Assist in the preparation of analytics for market pricing, including obtaining relevant external market data and compiling information on pricing of IFC deals, as well as preparing profitability related analyses.
•  Address ad-hoc portfolio requests from multiple sources throughout IFC and perform other portfolio related work that may be assigned.
•  Develop standardized, repeatable processes and re-usable tools to collect and validate data, perform analyses efficiently, and report results in a succinct, clear, easy to digest format.
•  Document analyses performed and analytical tools developed so that they can be used by other team members over time.

 

Selection Criteria

•  Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Financial Engineering, or similar field with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Master’s degree in Financial Engineering, Finance or Data Science is a strong plus. 
•  Expert level proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint is required.
•  Demonstrated experience with large databases and datasets; data manipulation and extraction using SQL is required.
•  Knowledge of and experience in Excel VBA, Python, Power BI, Tableau and data science/machine learning tools is a strong plus. 
•  Knowledge of IFC’s operations, along with experience with portfolio systems, processes and procedures, is also a plus. 
•  Proactive approach and creative thinking in problem solving; strong analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail; strong sense of ownership; and commitment to highest quality standards.
•  Strong written and oral communication skills in English; ability to effectively interact and communicate directly and independently with staff across the institution.
•  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet competing deadlines under tight timelines.
•  Strong work ethic.
