The candidate will join Flavien Charpentier’s group within “Ion Channels & Cardiopathies ” research team (led by Michel De Waard & Flavien Charpentier) at the cutting-edge research unit of l’institut du thorax (INSERM, CNRS & Nantes University) in Nantes, France.

L’institut du thorax is a public expert center dedicated to patient care, translational research and training in cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic diseases. Our laboratory fosters a culture of strong teamwork and supports individual career development.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate to contribute to an ANR-funded project, PDEtreat4Heart, focusing on a new therapeutic strategy for heart failure. This collaborative initiative involves our team alongside Jérôme Leroy’s team at Inserm UMR 1180, Faculty of Pharmacy, University Paris-Saclay.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background and experience in at least one of the following models: engineered heart tissues (EHT) with cardiomyocytes derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells or models of heart failure secondary to ischemia-reperfusion.

The successful candidate will benefit from technical assistance.

The candidate will play a pivotal role in the project management, conducting in vivo and ex vivo experiments, and fostering collaboration within the consortium. Responsibilities will also include presenting results at lab meetings, international congresses, and within the consortium.

  • Development of the models
  • Functional investigations (contractility, electrophysiology)
  • Experiments in biochemistry and immuno-histochemistry
  • Playing an active role in supervising students (undergraduate and PhD)

Skills/Qualifications

  • Competences in cardiac physiology are mandatory
  • Either experience in induced pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation into cardiomyocytes or in cardiac surgery and functional investigation (echocardiography and/or electrocardiography)
  • Experience in immunostaining, molecular biology (qPCR, western blots…)
  • Animal testing certification

On-call duty in culture room on certain weekends and public holidays
