The team led by Dr.Dzutsev within the Laboratory of Integrative Cancer Immunology at the National Cancer Institute investigates the structure and composition of the cancer immune microenvironment and different factors that shape it, such as the microbiome (of barrier surfaces, such as gut, and intratumoral). They also explore the mechanisms that trigger immune cells activation, ultimately leading to the elimination of tumor cells. Additionally, the group investigates the effects of the microbiome on the host immune system and examines the underlying mechanisms.
