The Post Doctoral Researcher will support federally funded research in the lab of Dr. Thomas Wittum. This position will supervise and manage the daily conduct of assigned field and laboratory research projects related to antimicrobial resistance and zoonotic infectious diseases. Essential duties of the position include training graduate and professional students in the conduct of field and laboratory research including laboratory methods; summarize and report the results of research projects at scientific meetings and in peer-reviewed scientific journals; prepare grant proposals for extramural research funding; and maintain laboratory equipment, procure supplies needed for projects, ensure laboratory safety, and manage student work assignments.

Required Qualifications

PhD in relevant field of study. Experience in the conduct of epidemiologic research related to antimicrobial resistance, including the analysis of bacterial sequence data is expected. Experience writing scientific manuscripts and competitive grant proposals is required.

Desired Qualifications

Evidence of successful classroom teaching and laboratory mentoring experience is desired.

Additional Information:

This is a 1-year term position, with possibility of renewal based on funding. Target salary range $48,000 – $55,000 annually, based on internal equity, budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
