Offer Description

We are looking for one PostDoc to join the Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence at Poznan University of Technology. We offer full-time position with a fixed term contract.
The PostDoc will join our team in learnINg versaTile lEgged locomotioN wiTh actIve perceptiON (INTENTION) project within OPUS-LAP program funded by Polish National Science Centre. The project is conducted in collaboration with the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Group from TU Darmstadt led by prof. Jan Peters.

  • The scope of work is within the objectives:
  • To develop a solution for learning physical parameter representations of the environment from sensory data, suitable for tasks involving legged robot locomotion.
  • To apply Interactive Perception paradigms to legged robots.
  • To provide control algorithms for legged robots with the physical parameters of the objects in the scene.

The person will be responsible for guiding younger researchers in their work. This will involve assistance in planning and executing experiments, setting research goals, and participating in paper writing. The scientific component will encompass tasks related to physical perception.

Skills/Qualifications

The candidate must possess a Ph.D. degree in robotics or related disciplines, such as computer science. Experience should be related to perception and machine learning, with a focus on legged robots. A leading role in a research project will be an advantage.
Requirements:
– PhD degree in robotics or related disciplines, e.g. computer science, max.7 years after PhD,
– Research track record in perception and machine learning,
– Publications in leading conferences or journals in the field: ICRA, IROS, T-RO, RAS, RA-L….
– Experience related to legged robotics, fluency in ROS and machine learning frameworks
– Leading role in the research project will be a benefit,
– Outstanding team and communication skills, fluency in English.
Desirable:
– basic knowledge of German and driver’s license for cars.

Benefits

We offer:
– full-time employment with ca. 7420 PLN (gross)/month
– full-time employment initially for 1 year, with possible extension for up to 2,5 years ;
– employment is expected from April 1, 2024.
