Our brain tumor research laboratory is currently seeking outstanding young scientists to join our group as Postdoctoral Fellows focused on mechanisms regulating stem and progenitor cell function in medulloblastoma using cutting edge cell biology, molecular biology and bioinformatics techniques. Successful candidates will be recent PhD graduates with high levels of curiosity and who are interested in making fundamental discoveries in understanding the molecular biology and developmental origins of pediatric brain tumors.
Job Duties
- Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
- Evaluates and analyzes data.
- Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
- Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
- Maintains laboratory operations.
- Supervises research staff.
- Integrates results from cell culture and molecular experiments to further generate hypotheses that will be tested functionally using a variety of assays both in vitro and in vivo.
- Develops and optimizes protocols for the lab and implements new technologies for specific research projects. This individual will train others in the lab on these new technologies.
- Mines, analyzes and interprets data (TurboID/proteomics, ChIP-seq and RNAseq, including assessment of alternative splicing) in light of tumour evolution, with the aim of understanding the underlying dynamics of pediatric brain tumour growth and heterogeneity.
- Works extensively on manuscript/grant drafts, figures and cover letters for submission to journals.
- Represents the lab at national and international scientific meetings.
