Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Physics specialized in Quantum Physics or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Physics. Please visit
Figueroa Research Group to learn more about our department/research. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

We seek applicants with relevant experience in the following three main areas:

     Development of telecom entangled photon sources compatible with quantum memory nodes.

     Design and implementation of frequency conversion systems bridging ion-based wavelengths with rubidium atomic memory wavelengths.

     Experience with interfacing telecom photons and atomic quantum memories.

Additionally, the applicant will participate in:

     Data collection and analysis on quantum network performance.

     Perform periodical/literature search to evaluate the state-of-the-art in hybrid quantum networks.

     Participate in manuscript writing for publication in high-impact scientific journals.

     Assist in grant writing for federal organizations such as NSF, DOE and DOD.

     Attend scientific conferences and meetings in the field of quantum information science and technology.

     Participate in laboratory and equipment maintenance.

     Participate in selecting and ordering optical and electron supplies as needed.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
