Postdoctoral Associate

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in hand by May 2024. Experience in Biochemistry, immunohistochemistry, metabolic analyses, RNA-seq analyses, primary cell culture, cell morphology analysis. Knowledge in different statistical analyses. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge in the neuroscience field.
• Experience with culturing human pluripotent stem cells and differentiating them into neurons and astrocytes.
• Knowledge and mastery of metabolic analyses.
• Experience with mitochondrial analyses.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator, Dr. Nurit Ballas , in the Department of  Biochemistry & Cell Biology. The incumbent will participate in a collaborative research project on Rett Syndrome using molecular biology techniques. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

Duties: 

• Collect and analyze data for reporting experimental results in scientific publications.
• Assist with training of other lab members in specialized scientific techniques.
• Participate in weekly lab meetings presenting research data.
• Other duties as assigned, which may include attending and presenting research results at Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
