Postdoctoral Associate

The Izgu Lab in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Rutgers University–New Brunswick is seeking applications for a postdoctoral research position. The postdoc will conduct medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, and nucleic acid chemistry. These projects are funded by the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation. The postdoc will also be responsible for mentoring and academic writing. Consideration will be given to those with proven expertise in medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, nucleic acids chemistry, biochemistry, and/or chemical biology. Applicants should be exceptionally driven and self-motivated individuals with the highest commitment to excellence in scholarship.

Rutgers manages Protein Data Bank (PDB), the global archive of 3D structure data for large biological molecules (proteins, DNA, and RNA) essential for research and education in fundamental biology, health, energy, and biotechnology. The Izgu research group has a 2,500 sq. ft. laboratory area located in the state-of-the-art Chemistry and Chemical Biology building. The lab has 12 large-size fume hoods (8-feet long each), each with a dedicated bench, and 2 separate biology rooms for cell culture. The lab is well-equipped: BioRad ChemiDoc MP gel imager, SpectraMax iD3 microplate reader, Dynamic light scattering instrument, Waters HPLC-MS, Waters prep-HPLC, ÄKTA oligonucleotide synthesizer, CLASS II A2 biosafety cabinets, PPT organic solvent purification system, Büchi automated chromatography system, Büchi rotary evaporators, Leica DMi inverted light microscope, and more. Many other instrument facilities are also available to help conduct the projects.
