Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow for the Department of Health Behavior, Society and Policy within the School of Public Health. For this position, the Postdoctoral Fellow will work under the supervision of Principal Investigator, Dr. Slawa Rokicki, to contribute to research investigating the health, social, and policy determinants of maternal and child health. Projects will focus on advancing maternal and child health equity using quantitative research methods in areas such as maternal mortality and morbidity, mental health, access to health care, and chronic disease.
The Post Doctoral Fellow will lead data management and analysis of administrative claims and longitudinal datasets, including the application of quasi-experimental methods such as difference-in-differences using Stata or R. The Post Doctoral Fellow will also be encouraged to develop their own independent research program. There will be opportunities for authorship on publications, presentation at conferences, teaching, and collaboration on new grant proposals. The candidate should be able to work both independently and as part of a larger multidisciplinary team.
Duties include:

  • Conduct data cleaning and coding using Stata (preferred) and/or R.
  • Implement statistical analysis under the guidance of Principal Investigator.
  • Prepare tables and figures for manuscripts, reports, and presentations.
  • Contribute to manuscript drafting and revision for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present findings at national and international conferences.
  • Contribute to new grant applications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Doctorate or terminal degree (e.g., PhD, ScD) in a quantitative field relevant to population health, including but not limited to Health Policy, Public Health, Economics, Demography, Biostatistics, Statistics, Health Services Research. Expected completion by agreed up on start date is acceptable.
  • Candidates with all but degree will be considered.
  • Strong programming skills using Stata or R.
  • Experience with quasi-experimental, longitudinal, and causal inference analysis. Active interest in maternal health and health disparities research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
