Postdoctoral Fellow – Cancer and Metabolic Reprogramming

tendersglobal.net

Position Description: We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our dynamic team in the Simone Laboratory at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Engage in innovative bench-to-bedside research at the intersection of cancer, diet, metabolic reprogramming, and radiation biology. Our goal is ambitious yet simple: to increase the sensitivity of tumors that are resistant to radiation through innovative approaches. As an NIH-funded fellow, you’ll work with cutting-edge techniques to manipulate cell metabolism, and contributing to revolutionary clinical trials. This position involves hands-on experience with in vitro and in vivo preclinical models, as well as the processing and analysis of clinical trial samples. This is an opportunity to shape the future of cancer treatment through metabolic interventions and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes. Join us in the pursuit of scientific excellence and transformative discoveries.

What We Offer: Joining our team means more than just working in a lab; it’s becoming part of a community dedicated to making a real difference in cancer treatment. You will see our lab successes taken directly to patients with our team continually writing clinical trials from our bench work. You will receive mentorship and support to achieve your career goals and collaborate with a highly interactive, interdisciplinary team of researchers. We are not just seeking a fellow; we are looking for a future leader in cancer biology. This position will be part of a National Institutes of Health collaborative effort with additional remote training and opportunities from leaders in the field.

Experience Required: We are seeking a highly motivated, independent scientist who shares our passion for advancing cancer research. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field in cancer research. MD with PhD equivalent with bench research is also acceptable.
  • Preferred experience with in vivo tumor experiments; knowledge of molecular biology, microRNA, and radiation biology is a plus.
  • The ability to independently generate hypotheses, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and effectively communicate findings through presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts.
  • Candidates in the early stages of their postdoctoral career, or those nearing the completion of their thesis are highly encouraged to apply.

Please send a cover letter, curriculum vitae with full bibliography and a statement of research interests to: Nicole Simone, MD; Vice Chair of Research, Department of Radiation Oncology, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital; nicole.simone@jefferson.edu
