The Kupper laboratory in the Department of Dermatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) in Boston is seeking post-doctoral fellow. We have made several fundamental advances in the characterization how the tumor microenvironment suppressed the CD8 T cell response and how to overcome the suppression.  Manipulation of cytokine activation of CD8 T cells, along with blocking cytokine activation of myeloid cell suppression, is central to our approach and relies on our ability to manipulate these molecules and their receptors in a unique way.  Along with spatial profiling and molecular imaging, we are using engineered therapeutic molecules to tip the balance towards T cell activation in the tumor microenvironment.   Our research utilizes both standard immunologic techniques (immunofluorescence/ immunohistochemistry, microscopy, flow cytometry and sorting, in situ hybridization, western blot, etc) and novel technologies (high-throughput TCR sequencing, nanostring analysis, single cell RNAseq, multispectral labeling and imaging of tissue, spatial profiling, and laser capture microscopy). We work with both human specimens and mouse models of disease.

 

 

 

Highly-motivated candidates with an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in Immunology or a related field are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should possess strong laboratory, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
