Postdoctoral Molecular Biologist with Bioinformatics

Project:The molecular machinery of gene regulation and the effect of regulatory variants.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic computational machine learning biologist to join the research groups of Professor Jim Hughes and Associate Professor James Davies.  The postholder will join a large multidisciplinary team with expertise in developing and applying cutting-edge molecular genomics and Chromatin Conformation Capture technologies, combined with human genetics and genome sequencing in primary human cells.

An important aspect of this role is to work effectively with both the bench and computational components of the Hughes and Davies Groups.  Part of this role will be to work closely with the computational arms of the Hughes and Davies groups, to coordinate the planning of experiments and generation of data with the analysis and integration of multiple classes of genomics data.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD, (or be close to completion: thesis submitted) in a biological discipline and have experience in the performance, optimisation of 3C methods, in particular Tiled-C, Capture-C and Micro-Capture-C. They must also be experienced in the generation and basic analysis of standard genomic datasets, such as Bulk ATAC-seq and ChIP-seq data, together with experience in the use of online platforms such as UCSC or MDV for the visualization of genomics data.

This is a fixed-term post for 3 years, funded by the Wellcome Trust.
