Offer Description

Theoretical group at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics seeks a postdoctoral researcher who will work in the research field of terahertz optics. We look for a motivated and skilled colleague who will be responsible for computer simulations of quantum systems in electromagnetic field.

Description of position:

The applicant will participate in a theoretical research in the field of terahertz spectroscopy of nanostructures. The position is financed from the Czech Science Foundation grant “Electron tunneling in coupled semiconductor nanostructures triggered by plasmon resonance at terahertz frequencies”. The scope of the position will be to systematically perform numerical simulations of the interaction of nanostructures with electromagnetic field, data analysis and preparation of publications. We offer work in a small theoretical group and opportunity to realize own ideas. The contract can be extended upon mutual agreement.

Qualification requirements:

  • Ph.D. title or equivalent received within the last 8 years (exceptions are possible in cases of parental leave and long-term sickness) by starting date.
  • Proven ability of communication in English.
  • Publication track in the area.
  • Proven experience in the field of numerical solution of problems with boundary condition using FDTD methods.
  • Knowledge of classical non-relativistic theory of electromagnetism.
  • We expect both the capability of independent work and work within a team.

The Committee may invite selected candidates to give a lecture to the academic community of the Faculty.
