Overview
About the Role
Applications are sought for a Post Doctoral Research Assistant to develop improved in vitro and ex vivo assays for radiolabelled targeting agents against cellular targets/transporters across a wide range of cancer models. These agents are mainly being used in radionuclide imaging and therapy of cancer. The role will also involve development of protocols and techniques for ex vivo cryofluorescence tomography (CFT) using the first-in-UK EMIT Xerra CFT instrument. The research is an industrial collaboration between the Cancer Imaging Laboratory, Centre for Cancer Biomarkers and Biotherapeutics, Barts Cancer Institute within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London, and Invicro London. Invicro is a translational imaging company and leading global provider of imaging-based service solutions and image analysis software for research and drug development.
About You
Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant biological or biomedical science subject or an MSc with equivalent research experience. The successful applicant will have significant research laboratory experience in tissue culture and cell-based assays. Experience with FACS, IHC and other molecular biology techniques would be advantageous. Knowledge of ex vivo fluorescence imaging cell or tissue-based techniques, as well as experience of working with radioactivity would also be advantageous but are not essential and relevant training will be provided. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are essential.
The position would suit someone keen to work at the interface of academia and industry and the candidate will be actively involved with the Invicro Discovery Research team, assisting with overall project execution, general laboratory management and workflow compliance. Although the majority of the laboratory work will be performed at BCI Charterhouse Square site, the candidate may also spend time at the Invicro London site in Hammersmith, West London.
