Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Ghezzi Lab at University of Massachusetts Lowell is looking for a full-time, fully benefitted Postdoctoral Research Associate to participate in a NIH-funded research program which aims to decipher the role of sex hormones in host-microbiome interactions in the human oral mucosa.

The project revolves around tissue modeling on host-pathogens interactions, multi-omics data analysis, and mentoring at different levels. Previous experience in advanced tissue modeling and molecular and functional characterization is prerequisite, while experience working with bacterial cultures is a plus but not strictly necessary. The Ghezzi Lab focuses on understanding how multicellular responses are affected by the native microenvironment in order to design and engineer natural polymers to support the investigation of these processes in vitro and in vivo. Our research liaises engineering biopolymer structure/functional properties with advanced biofabrication techniques to develop three-dimensional tissue models, by combining physiological architecture, physical stimuli, and native microstructure to recapitulate healthy and diseased tissue states.

• CLSM and SEM imaging skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting
• Ph.D. in a relevant field (BME, ChemE, Biology, etc.)
• Publication record in peer-reviewed journals
