A postdoctoral research associate position is available with Dr. Bo Hu.

Immunology postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Bo Hu in the Department of Immunology, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Hu lab investigates immunobiology, immunometabolism, and neuroimmunology, by focusing on the interaction of the immune system and the nervous system and its implications for health and diseases. As the immune system and nervous system are tightly connected to regulate host physiology and pathology, understanding these connections allows us to gain new insights into biological concepts and disease targets. The Hu laboratory will combine advanced cellular and molecular techniques in immunology and neurobiology with genetic-engineering tools, quantitative proteomics, and multiplex imaging systems to interrogate neuro-immune interaction in pathophysiological conditions. Please see the following articles published for additional information: Nature 578 (2020); Science 354 (6313) (2016).

Position Responsibilities:

In this position, you will collaborate with internal and external experts and gain deep expertise and training in immunology, neurobiology, cancer biology, metabolism, tumor immunology, neuroimmunology and molecular biology. There will be opportunities to mentor students, providing guidance and support in their research activities. You will have the opportunity to lead and develop projects using innovative techniques, including:

  • Cutting-edge in vivo CRISPR screen

  • Advanced multiplex imaging, wholemount tissue clearing, quantitative proteomics and spatial-omics

  • Genetic model and chemical induced model of cancer

  • Chemogenetics and optogenetics

Minimum Education and/or Training:

Highly motivated individuals with a recent Ph.D. training in immunology, neuroscience, neurobiology, proteomics, metabolism, biochemistry, or molecular biology and publication records (minimum of one-first author in a peer-reviewed journal published or submitted) are encouraged to apply for the open position.
