Postdoctoral Research Fellow position
At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care, a full-time temporary position as postdoctoral research fellow is available for a period of three (3) years. The position is part of the groundbreaking ERC Consolidator project ”Decoding Death and Dying in People with Dementia by Digital thanotyping (5-D)”, financed by the European Research Council (ERC).
The 5-D project will develop methods and digital tools to identify that a person with dementia is at the end of life, aimed to understand underlying pain and distressing symptoms in people who are no longer able to explain their suffering. The project will combine traditional assessment scales with sensor-based measurements, with novel analyses based on signal processing and artificial intelligence.
5-D is part of an innovative, active, and multidisciplinary research group: The Centre for Elderly and Nursing Home Medicine (SEFAS), which has several ongoing studies in which sensor data from wearables and radar installation are used to monitor symptoms, intervention effects, and disease course in older adults and people with neurological diseases such as dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Professor Bettina S. Husebø is the head of SEFAS. The centre has approximately 15 employees, and a large network both nationally and internationally. SEFAS is a partner for the Alrek Health Cluster, Årstadveien, Bergen, and is supported by the Trond Mohn Foundation related to Complex Conditions and Ageing (CC.AGE).
