As a foundation under public law and with more than 90 employees in research, administration, and science communication, the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt is one of the most influential institutions for peace and conflict research in Germany. In this capacity, we are seeking to employ at the earliest possible date:

one Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d)

full-time, in Salary Group 13 TV-H*, for a duration of two years (acc. to WissZeitVG**) in the context of the BMBF***-funded Research Center “Transformations of Political Violence (TraCe)”.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Collaborative and independent research in the TraCe research area “Forms: Change and Continuity of Political Violence” with a focus on the systematic review, consolidation, and advancement of research on the internationalization of intrastate conflict;
  • Participation in academic publications and knowledge transfer of the TraCe Research Center and of PRIF in general;
  • A willingness and ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary team, to present research to the academic community and the general public, and to participate in the bodies of PRIF’s internal administration (the language spoken in PRIF’s central administrative bodies is English).

As applicant, you should fulfill the following requirements:

  • A doctoral degree in political science, sociology, or another relevant discipline;
  • Research interest in political violence and especially in the internationalization of intrastate conflict;
  • Proven experience in quantitative and/or qualitative social-science methods and, ideally, an ability to conduct meta analyses and replication studies;
  • An international profile founded in experience in research visits and/or field research;
  • Good spoken and written command of English.
