University of California, Irvine Center for Neural Circuit Mapping
tendersglobal.net
Multiple postdoctoral scholar / senior scientist positions are available at the Center for Neural Circuit Mapping and in the laboratory of Dr. Xiangmin Xu at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine.
Dr. Xu’s laboratory interests span a broad range of topics, including evaluation of functional connectivity in the mammalian forebrain in the development of binocular vision and higher cognitive function; the effects of aging, Alzheimer’s disease and stress on circuit functioning; and the development of cutting-edge molecular tools to support neural circuit mapping studies. We use combined approaches of single-cell and spatial genomics, electrophysiology, optical imaging, genetically modified viral tracing, and behavioral measurements. Our research work has significant potential for translational applications for better treatments of neurodevelopmental disorders and neurological diseases. Our recent directions include 1) using the latest single cell genomic technologies coupled with functional circuit mapping and behavioral analysis to determine how the transcriptome and epigenome shape neural circuit activity and learning and memory behaviors; 2) applying our findings towards treating Alzheimer’s disease based on our conceptual advances in circuit manipulation-based strategies. See Dr. Xu’s information and recent publications at https://www.faculty.uci.edu/profile/?facultyId=6039
Requirements: The candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, with strong experimental or analytic training in molecular, cellular or systems neuroscience. Candidates who have skills including neuroanatomical tracing, electrophysiology, in vivo functional imaging, bioinformatics and data science, would be encouraged to apply at the link: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF08020
And contact Dr. Xiangmin Xu at [email protected] for inquiries.
