ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow and support service delivery that is accessible, safe and meeting the needs of our First Nations children, families and communities.

We are looking for someone with expertise in Mens’ business to work alongside our existing First Nations Practice Specialist who has expertise in Women’s business to ensure a culturally safe environment for our First Nations staff, and culturally responsive service delivery to our First Nations clients and community.

This role can be ‘work from home’ or based in any Interrelate office across NSW with a requirement to travel to any of our locations as and when needed.

Key duties will include:

  • Supporting staff to understand and deliver effective practice relating to First Nations children, families and communities
  • Providing specialist advice/consultation and build capability of our leadership teams to deliver culturally responsive and effective services
  • Program development and evaluation
  • Assisting with business development opportunities e.g. tender preparation by providing information on trends, statistics, evidence-based practice and accepted or emerging models of practice
  • Providing ongoing advice / input into the service growth strategy
  • Developing and fostering relationships with key stakeholders

The current salary for this role is dependent on experience, ranging from $113,000 plus 11.5% superannuation.

We have an employee reference group called Kutanya which aims to support delivery of services to First Nations communities and support First Nations staff. Kutanya is made up of First Nations employees and other employees, including the CEO. The Practice Specialists – First Nations, share chairing responsibilities for this group.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree/post-graduate qualifications in social science, First Nations studies or related discipline AND / OR significant experience in community development work; particularly with First Nations families and children
  • Experience in program development
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, cross cultural issues; particularly issues impacting the First Nations and Torres Strait Islander community, including family violence, social disadvantage and key issues of the community and relevant strategies, such as ‘Closing the Gap’
  • Strong contemporary knowledge of First Nations culture
  • Extensive experience and recency in First Nations Services
  • High level clinical skills and experience
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively to drive cultural change
  • Sound understanding of the development and position of First Nations services within the sector, including government policy, impact of family law, knowledge of the relationship services sector and current research
  • Knowledge and understanding of Interrelate’s current services
  • Good working knowledge of the political landscape
  • Ability to develop and build upon existing collaborations as well as creating/facilitating new opportunities
