Job Summary

This PRC Research Coordinator supports LGBTQ+ research at UCSF’s Prevention Research Center. The position uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional with a full understanding of in-depth research methods and data analysis methods. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

***NOTE: This is Limited remote 20% role with end date of 9/2/2015.

Department Description

The UCSF Prevention Research Center (PRC) is part of a network of 20+ research centers that study how people and their communities can avoid or counter risks for chronic illnesses, such as heart disease, obesity, and cancer. The UCSF PRC aims to: (1) Maintain a Prevention Research Center that focuses on appropriate adaptation, dissemination, and implementation of HIV and/or LGBTQ+ health disparities research for application to policy, programs, and practices; (2) Enhance collaborations with partners in the community, health care systems, government agencies, institutions and universities to facilitate innovative, high-impact, multidisciplinary HIV/LGBTQ+  research and knowledge translation to training, programs, practices, and policies; (3) Increase the capacity of partners in the community, health care systems, government agencies, institutions and universities to understand and implement the findings from HIV/LGBTQ+ research through targeted training, communication, and dissemination; and (4) Develop an implementation research portfolio that translates and adapts evidence-informed interventions into practice settings.

The mission of the UCSF Prevention Research Center (PRC) is to maintain an interdependent network of community, academic, and public health partners to design and implement prevention research aimed at answering significant and innovative HIV research questions and promoting the wide use of practices proven to promote health for those with HIV.

The Division of Prevention Science (DPS) is based at the Mission Bay campus at 550 16th Street. The division was established within the Department of Medicine in 1991 and is the administrative home of the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS), the Prevention Research Center (PRC), the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health (CoE), and the Research Coordinating Center to Reduce Disparities in Multiple Chronic Diseases (RCC-RD-MCD). The division’s research focus is risk behavior and reduction; epidemiology of the virus; evaluation of HIV testing procedures, demographic variables and sexual self-identification; and training for providers who care for HIV AIDS patients. The division is comprised of approximately 40 academics (faculty, specialists, postdocs, and visiting professors) and 55 non-academic staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and three or more years of relevant experience and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Thorough knowledge of research function.
  • Thorough skills associated with statistical or qualitative data analysis and systems programming.
  • Thorough skills in analysis and consultation.
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills in project management.
  • Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
