  • Location: Minus18 Office at the Victorian Pride Centre, 79-81 Fitzroy St, St Kilda VIC. This role requires some travel arrangements.
  • Salary: $102,949.45 Full Time Salary Package (Non-PBI Equivalent) + Super – incudes:
    • Base Pay $93,860.00
    • Up to $6,385.95 in tax-savings via our offered charity salary packaging.
    • $2,703.50 allowances and cash benefits
    • + $10,324.60 Super (11%)

Minus18 is Australia’s charity improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth. We support LGBTQIA+ young people through events and digital platforms, and provide fee for service LGBTQIA+ inclusion training to schools, businesses and community organisations. Since 2011 over 100,000 young people have engaged in these services across Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, and millions more via digital platforms.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Presenter Team Lead at Minus18 will enable our presenters to drive inclusion within the broader community, delivering LGBTQIA+ education workshops and training that are a mix of facilitation, presentation and improvisation. In this role, you’ll be leading a team of LGBTQIA+ Education Presenter to deliver sessions to a variety of audiences, including students, teachers, youth groups, community organisations and corporate environments, making LGBTQIA+ inclusion accessible to everyone in a positive, nonjudgmental space.

Some of our recent audiences have included Bonds, Levis, Canva & the National Theatre Melbourne.

You will be an effective leader and maintain a connection to our Workshops in order to provide the best tailored support to our Presenters. Our Workshops have been described as “participating in your favourite podcast”, so even though they are pre-scripted, you’ll think on your feet, react to the audience’s participation and navigate questions with patience and positivity. We’ll also coach you to write and share your personal narrative on LGBTQIA+ identity with openness and vulnerability, inspiring others to connect with the real-world application of the Content.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership

  • Effectively lead, coach and develop a high performing team with strong technical and interpersonal skills through work plans, 1:1’s, coaching and engaging with professional development.
  • Assist in the recruitment of new Team Members
  • Make decisions within the Team Leader matrix of authority.
  • Work with the Education Manager to support the creation of targets, calendars and budgets that align with strategic goals.
  • Lead and engage in cross departmental working groups and internal meetings to develop and use systems to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of programming work.
  • Effectively manage the capacity of your team including leave and working arrangements to ensure high team performance.
  • Lead and engage in team planning and processes, ensuring increasing alignment between organisational strategic priorities and the activities undertaken within the team and on the ground.
  • Be a visible and approachable leader creating strong internal relationships.
  • Foster strong positive working relationships that support the goals of Minus18 and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and service excellence
  • Ensure that direct reports collaborate with each other and coordinate their work effectively by sharing lessons and planning and learning together
  • Other actions as assigned by the Education Manager

Presenter Support

  • Maintain and manage a regular facilitated space for reflective practice through debriefing on peer workshop delivery experiences
  • Team is supported to reach and meet Education Program targets.
  • Continuously develop, improve and run an effective onboarding program for all new Presenters.
  • Working in conjunction with the Booking Coordinator to coordinate the presenters on; Availability, Responding to queries from stakeholders & logistics
  • Provide support to the Bookings Coordinator to ensure Education Program meets revenue targets including participating in education services and assisting the development of grants and tenders as required.
  • Utilise strength based rostering and allocation to ensure high quality workshop delivery
  • Provide technical and logistical support to the presenters to ensure workshops are delivered effectively and smoothly including supporting Q&A moderation.
  • Further develop your team through coaching, guidance and engaging with professional development.
  • Effectively manage, maintain and distribute workshop stock to team and regularly conduct stock take.
  • Support in the effective collection and recording of participant feedback.
  • Lead the team to align on any content updates and new offerings.
  • Regularly attend workshops delivered by presenters in order to assess teams performance and provide feedback.
  • Guidelines, frameworks and processes are developed to support presenters, align with industry best practice and are appropriately documented and communicated.

Presenting

  • Set up and present packaged LGBTQIA+ workshops and keynotes to a wide variety of audiences including:Schools (teachers and students),Youth groups, Community organisations & Workplaces
  • Confidently share your own personal experiences relating to LGBTQIA+ identity.
  • Answer audience questions related to LGBTQIA+ identity, inclusion and allyship.
  • Travel to schools and workplaces to deliver sessions. This includes regular local travel, and occasional interstate travel.
  • Support the creation of promotional content, including social media posts and promotional material.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

The ideal candidate has:

  • Demonstrated experience leading a team to engage in education or training delivery.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve goals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong experience in public speaking and confidence commanding a room of people is required for this role.
  • Lived experience in LGBTQIA+ identity, and ability to share these experiences with others.
  • Clear passion for educating others with the ability to connect and empathise with a variety of audiences and people.
  • Demonstrated passion for Minus18’s mission to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • A Victorian drivers license. Regular access to a car is desired but not required.
  • A successful Police Background Check and Working With Children Check (WWCC) are required for this role. These can be obtained once an offer of employment is made, and before role commencement.
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status.
