About the Organization and
Position:

For 50 years,
Ronald McDonald House Charities
has focused on caring
for families so they can care for their children. In 1974, the
first Ronald McDonald House opened to give families a place to stay
when they came to Philadelphia, PA, for their child’s medical care.
Co-founder and pediatric oncologist Dr. Audrey Evans knew caring
for and supporting the whole family when a child was sick was
essential. Soon, this concept was replicated around the country.
When the second Ronald McDonald House opened in Chicago in 1977, it
birthed a global movement to care for families throughout their
child’s healthcare journey. Today, Ronald McDonald House Global
Charities operates 690 programs in 62 countries.

Augusta’s RMHC Chapter opened its first House in 1984 to
help families of critically ill children. The current beautiful
multi-story, 23-bedroom House opened in 2015 and serves over 1,000
families each year, providing a safe, warm, and loving place for
families to sleep, eat, and receive emotional support from caring
professionals. The Augusta House is just steps from the Children’s
Hospital of Georgia.

Family testimonials reflect RMHC
Augusta’s values of leading with compassion, demonstrating deep
respect, acting with integrity, and being firmly committed to its
mission. In 2023, RMHC Augusta served over 1,300 families with an
average 65% occupancy rate. On average, families stayed eight
nights, with the most extended stay at 103 nights. Those served
annually are primarily high-risk pregnant mothers, parents of
premature babies, and families with childhood cancer.
In addition to providing free housing
for eligible families, RMHC Augusta’s Family Support Services
Program, provides daily meals, events, and programming for
families. Adults and children enjoy the benefits of pet therapy,
music and movie nights, unique guest visits, family photos, and
more. RMHC Augusta’s services even extend beyond the walls of its
house. The RMHC Augusta Happy Wheels program brings books, fun
activities, and toys on its hospitality cart to spread cheer and
comfort to families in the hospital, even delivering these prized
goods to the child’s bedside.
Reporting to RMHC Augusta’s Board of
Directors, the next CEO will develop and manage
the organization’s $1 million annual budget while passionately
leading its staff team of 6 FT and 10 PT employees. The
CEO will work closely with the organization’s
leadership team – an Operations Director, Director of Development,
and Director of Marketing and Community Engagement. The
CEO will be responsible for the implementation of
the organization’s strategic goals and to execute the new RMHC
global impact plan at the chapter level.
