The Prevention Division aims to reduce the risk of cancer in the Victorian population through social marketing, advocacy, professional training and providing advice based on the best available evidence. This involves action to affect individual behaviours and the broader physical and legislative environment to support health and wellbeing. Our programs include Quit Victoria, SunSmart, Achievement Program, cancer screening early detection and immunisation, the Food For Health Alliance, and alcohol policy.
Saving lives and equitably improving cancer outcomes through screening, early detection, and immunisation is a priority for Cancer Council Victoria. Under our Strategic Plan, we will:
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate initiatives to equitably eliminate cervical cancer.
- Advocate programs and initiatives that will address the growing burden of liver cancer.
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate campaigns and programs to drive participation in bowel screening.
- Advocate and deliver evidence-based initiatives that increase earlier detection of cancer.
About your opportunity
We are seeking a Primary Care Engagement Lead to join the Prevention Division. Reporting to the Primary Care Engagement Manager your role is to:
- Coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of education and training programs including face to face workshops, online training packages and other professional development opportunities tailored to primary care and other health professionals.
- Oversee all aspects of the Victorian Nurse Certification process,
- Responsibility for a staff member that supports the coordination of primary care engagement activity.
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based projects.
- Prepare and/or contribute to written reports and articles, including reports to funding bodies and key stakeholders; progress reports; evaluation reports and newsletters, and publications.
- Keep up to date with national and state policies, guidelines, and research in relation to cancer screening, HPV and hepatitis immunisation and strategies to reach priority population groups to increase screening participation.
All about you
We are looking for someone with:
- Tertiary qualification in health information, primary health care, education, training, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, implementation, and evaluation, within the health sector.
- Proven ability to initiate and implement innovative education and training strategies in the primary health.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills including the ability to develop, maintain and lead strong collaborative partnerships with individuals and groups.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to present information simply and clearly in written and verbal forms to a wide range of professional and community groups.
