Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

The position of Principal Communications Specialist is assigned to the Media and External Relations Division within the Department of Communications and Knowledge Management. You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

You will report to Director, Media and External Relations Division and will oversee National Staff and Administrative staff.

 

Your Role

As Principal Communications Specialist, you will: use the power of storytelling, relevant technologies, and the varied work of ADB teams to lead the conceptualization and production of high-quality, multi-platform creative content to guide and strengthen ADB’s brand as Asia and the Pacific’s main development partner.

 

You will:

  • Lead the development and production of engaging, high-quality creative content across a range of formats and channels to support corporate communications campaigns and priorities.
  • Manage ADB corporate social media and multimedia content production, including video, photography, motion graphics, infographics, data visualization, and other multimedia products.
  • Build a culture of creativity and excellence in storytelling and content production across ADB by advising and collaborating with teams on the conceptualization, development, and production of content.
  • Produce content for and support direction of high-profile external and internal events, including for broadcast on social media or other channels.
  • Source, manage, and monitor the outputs and performance of staff, consultants, and service providers supporting content production.
  • Oversee the related budget and vendor relationships.
  • Provide mentoring to teams and individuals and ensure their ongoing learning and development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director, DCMD.

 

Qualifications

You will need:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent, in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, International Development or relevant fields. University degree in related fields and at least 5 years specialized experience relevant to the position can be considered.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience, including at international level and demonstrated understanding of development issues, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. International experience working in several countries.
  • Significant experience developing and executing high-quality creative content for a range of platforms in a collaborative, multicultural environment.
  • Deep understanding of social media, multimedia, the digital content landscape, and best practices
  • Experience producing videos from end to end, with technical expertise in video, audio, and all phases of production, including pre-production, during, and post-production. Proficient in scripting, digital editing, video compression across multiple platforms, and motion graphics design.
  • A strong creative sense and storytelling ability to captivate and engage audiences.
  • Experience developing original and compelling concepts, scripts, and storyboards tailored to specific strategies and target audiences.
  • Demonstrated expertise in composition, framing, and visual effects to create a cohesive and visually appealing aesthetic.
  • Expertise in sound design, music selection, and voice-over integration to enhance and enrich visual content.
  • Experience leading and managing creative teams and advising a range of clients on content production.
  • Experience commissioning and directing external creative content producers, ensuring delivery aligned with corporate brand standards and quality expectations.
  • Experience preparing and implementing strategic communications plans in a large organization desired.
  • Experience providing skills training techniques and ability to mentor more junior team members desired.
