We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to project manage
the Council’s commercial decarbonisation journey. 

This is one of several key roles tasked with delivering Rotherham Council’s ambitious climate
change target to reach net zero by 2030 as well as being responsible for managing the Council’s
commercial energy and water contracts. 

In this critical role you will identify and implement property related decarbonisation projects
and work to supplement Council budgets with relevant funding opportunities. This role will also
lead, and line manage a small team of technical staff with responsibilities including energy
efficiency and expanding the Borough’s EV charging infrastructure. 

We are therefore looking for a strong environmental manager with excellent technical,
communication and project management skills to deliver the Council’s net zero targets
throughout its operational estate and to develop relationships with core Council services and
stakeholders. The postholder will also be required to build and maintain effective partnerships
within and outside the service, dealing with complex enquiries, developing staff potential and
implementing new ways of working to ensure an effective service and best value are delivered.

based at Riverside House but includes the ability to work at home for several days of the
month. Travel across the Borough to events/meetings and occasional out of hours working will

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay
reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the
full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who
experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for
part-time).
